Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan is set to become the new Vice-Chancellor of University of Dhaka (DU).
He is going to be the 30th Vice-Chancellor of the DU.
Education Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid, confirmed Bangladesh Post that a formal notification in this regard would be issued on Tuesday.President Mohammed Shahabuddin, also the university chancellor, has already given his consent in this regard, according to a source.
Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan is Professor and former Chairman of the Department of Development Studies, University of Dhaka; Pro Vice Chancellor of privet Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB); Senior Academic Adviser, National Defence College (NDC), Senior Academic Adviser BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD); and Chairman, Bangladesh Tropical Forest Conservation (Arannayak) Foundation.
Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan pursued higher education and research in the University of Oxford, University of Wales Swansea and Asian Institute of Technology.
His career reflects a rich blend of academic and practicing development management experiences gained in Bangladesh, Thailand and the UK.
After the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led government amid a mass upsurge, there had been a wave of resignations in all public universities across the country.
As a part of it, Professor ASM Maksud Kamal, who was the 29th Vice chancellor of Dhaka University, resigned on August 10.
