Professor Jahangir Alam has joined Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) on Sunday as its new Vice-chancellor (VC) after the post remained vacant for over one-year.
Prior to the new assignment, he was in the department of civil engineering at Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET).
Earlier on August 13, Prof Jahangir Alam was given appointment as RUET VC for a four-year term as per the order of President and Chancellor.
Meanwhile, Prof Alam had a meeting today with all faculty deans, departmental heads and office heads where he gathered knowledge on the present academic, administrative and development activities.
He also shared views with teachers, officers and employees discussing and devising ways and means on how to brighten the image of RUET by producing quality students.
An earthquake expert, Prof Alam worked as faculty dean and department head and director during his long teaching career.
