Prof Dr. Akbar Hussain of the Anthropology department has been appointed as the acting dean of the social science faculty of Jahangirnagar University (JU). An office order signed by JU acting registrar Rahima Kaniz confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.
According to section 8 (2) of Jahangirnagar University Act 1973, Prof Akbar Hussain was temporarily appointed as dean of the social science faculty till further notice, the notice reads.
Prof Dr. Akbar Hussain completed his Ph.D. degree from the University of Tsukuba, Japan (2001). Prior to that, he completed his BSS Honours and MSS degree from department anthology of JU.
Moreover, he was the Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and conducted research as Post-doctoral Fellow, He was engaged in Advanced Research at York University, Canada.
Akbar Hussain joined the department in 1993 as Lecturer and became a professor in 2007.
