Additional DIG of Police of Bangladesh Police Sohel Rana claimed on Tuesday that the problem is not the force but the leadership in the police.
The guilty among the policemen will be punished, he said in a WhatsApp message.
The outspoken police officer was urged not to attack innocent policemen in the recent violence in the country. “I pray for the forgiveness of their souls who died in this movement of the public and students. Right now, like the country and the nation, the Bangladesh Police is also going through a transitional period.
Apparently, the Bangladesh Police is now leaderless. The accused have covered their heads. Junior officers and members are disoriented. They are all innocent members. In the current situation, I want everyone’s cooperation to protect a state institution for the sake of the country. Soon, the police administration and leadership will be properly activated,” said Additional DIG Sohel Rana.
“I believe the new government will take appropriate legal action against those accused of killing the general students. Apart from legal action against the accused, innocent members should also be given a chance to take public service with full zeal.
The police establishment and resources belong to the people, not the police. It is requested not to destroy or destroy all state assets, including the police,” he also said.
This police officer said, “There are officers and members of the Bangladesh Police who have the talent and mentality to give Bangladesh the best police service in the world.”. The people will get their desired ‘Bangladesh Police’ only if qualified officers are placed in appropriate positions based on merit, competence, morality, and patriotism.
“I just want to say that there is boundless goodness in the police who stood by you in the Great War of Independence in 1971 and who stood by the people at the obvious risk of death in the COVID period. Let’s give good people a chance to survive and practice good qualities. If the Great Creator wants, we can do it under the new ideal leadership of the new generation,” added Additional DIG Sohel Rana.
Requesting the policemen at all levels to explain their position to the people politely, he said, “Take a vow to stand by the people again and concentrate on service. I want that cooperation from everyone.”
