The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has upheld a High Court directive that asked the Counter-Terrorism and Transitional Crime (CTTC) unit of the police to investigate whatever the Rajarbag Darbar Shareef and its Pir Dillur Rahman have any connection with militancy.
A four-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice M Imman Ali dismissed a leave to appeal petition filed by one Mafizul Islam, a follower of Rajarbag Pir Dillur Rahman, challenging the HC directives over this issue.
Following a writ petition filed by eight victims of false cases, the High Court bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman on September 19 asked the CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police to investigate whether any connection of the Pir and his disciples (Murid) in militancy.
The HC bench has also asked the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to inquire into the assets of Dillur and his disciples. Both the CTTC and ACC had been asked to submit reports in 60 working days.

Later, Mafizul Islam filed the leave to appeal petition, challenging the HC directives.
Advocate ZI Khan Panna and Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir appeared before the apex court for the writ petition, while Advocate Murad Reza moved for the Rajarbag Darbar Shareef and its Pir Dillur Rahman during the hearing of the leave to appeal petition.
Advocate Shishir Manir told media that after the apex court’s order, now there is no bar to continue probe into militancy link and assets of Rajarbag Darbar Shareef and its Pir Dillur Rahman.
Pir Dillur Rahman and his followers allegedly filed false cases against the writ petitioners for harassing and humiliating them.
The HC on the same day directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police to identify those who filed false cases against the writ petitioners and submit its report in 60 working days. It also asked police not to harass or arrest the writ petitioners.
Eight victims collectively submitted the writ petition to the HC on September 16 through Advocate Shishir Manir, mentioning that the disciples of Pir Dillur Rahman filed several false, misleading and defamatory cases against them through his followers.
Rajarbagh Darbar Sharif, a centre of Sufism and mystic beliefs situated in the capital’s Shantibag area, is allegedly involved in misdeeds and unholy activities in the name of religion as well as Islam.
The Rajarbagh Darbar Sharif runs centering the Rajarbagh Pir named Dillur Rahman. He has a number of ardent disciples (murid). Many of the disciples as well as the Rajarbagh Pir syndicate allegedly harass many people to materialise their ill-motive. They are allegedly involved in case manipulation and torture on innocent people.
