A probe body was formed to investigate the allegations brought against a director of the National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) as he has been reportedly in service for 23 years with fake certificate.
Kazi Ziaul Baset, a deputy secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has been tasked with the investigation and asked to submit a report to the ministry in this regard.
Kazi Ziaul Baset confirmed the matter to The Bangladesh Post on Thursday. He said that he will investigate the allegations brought against Md. Nazrul Islam, director (training engineering) of NIMC and will prepare a probe report following the investigation.
It is known that the probe body into the allegation was formed following an application submitted to the adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and secretary of the ministry. One Khairuzzaman submitted the application, seeking action against NIMC director Md. Nazrul Islam for his various misconducts including joining job at the institute with fake certificate.
The probe body, headed by Kazi Ziaul Baset, is scheduled to hold a hearing over the allegations against Md. Nazrul Islam today (Thursday).
Earlier on September 28, The Bangladesh Post published a news item over the allegations under the title ‘NIMC director in job for 23yrs with fake certificate!’ After publication of the news, the picture of Nazrul Islam was removed from the website of NIMC.
It was reported that Md. Nazrul Islam, current director (training engineering) of NIMC joined the apex training institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting almost 23 years ago as a junior officer, showing the fake certificate he collected from a fake organisation named ‘Mitali Film Product’.
The authorities of Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) informed The Bangladesh Post in a letter that there is no organisation named Mitali Film Product.
However, the correspondent of the newspaper had obtained a copy of the diploma certificate on photography and the handwriting on the certificate matched Nazrul Islam’s own handwriting.
