The Bangladeshi film 'Priyo Satyajit' (Dear Satyajit), directed by Proshoon Rahmaan, has been streaming on Amazon Prime since September 15. Currently, only viewers in the United States and the United Kingdom have access to the film.

Proshoon Rahmaan shared that he delayed making the news public due to the current situation in the country. He also mentioned that another platform would soon make the film available to viewers in South Asia. However, there is no confirmation yet regarding a platform for Bangladeshi viewers.

'Priyo Satyajit' was created as a tribute to the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray on his birth centenary. The film stars the late actor Ahmed Rubel, who passed away on February 7 this year, portraying the role of Satyajit Ray. The film was shown in a special screening on May 2, 2023, on Ray’s birthday, but it has not been released locally due to a lack of interest from distributors.

The director acknowledged that independent films like 'Priyo Satyajit' often face challenges in attracting a large audience or securing distribution because they don’t follow conventional formulas. Despite this, Rahmaan emphasized that filmmakers should continue to create works for the sake of art and creativity.

The film tells the story of two filmmakers from different generations, both of whom are inspired by Satyajit Ray. Moutushi Biswas plays the younger filmmaker, while Ahmed Rubel portrays the senior filmmaker. Produced by Rahmaan's production house, Imation Creator, the film has earned praise at international festivals but is still awaiting a release in Bangladesh.
