An accused in a drugs case who fell sick in the district jail died at Sherpur Zila Hospital on Friday night. The deceased was identified as Hossain Ali, 38, son of Shomsher Ali of Sonarpara village in Sadar upazila.
Md Ismail, jailer of Sherpur jail, said when Hossain started vomiting at 8 pm he was taken to hospital immediately where Dr Khairul Kabir Sumon declared him dead at 9 pm.
Dr Md Mobarak Hossain, medical officer of Sherpur Civil Surgeon’s office, said the cause of the death will be known after autopsy.A court sent Hossain Ali to jail on June 15 in a drugs case, Md Ismail said.
