Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined in an exchange of views in the Ganabhaban with the leaders and administrators of Rajshahi through video conferencing during the inaugural function of countrywide ' Clean Village-clean Town' programme organized by the department of Local Government on the occasion of Mujib Borsho at around 12-30 pm on Thursday.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has appraised the cleanliness of Rajshahi city. She mentioned, Rajshahi city is very neat and clean and hoped Rajshahi city will continue such characteristic of cleanliness in future as well.
She joined the video conference at the office of Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi which was attended, among others, by Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, Member of Parliament of Rajshahi sadar constituency Fazley Hossain Badsha, Chairman of Rajshahi Zila parishad Mohammad Ali Sarker, DIG of Police, Rajshahi range AKM Hafiz Akhter, Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque, RMP Additional Commissioner Sujayet Ali, Social Worker Shahin Akhter Reni, AL City Unit Secretary Doubew Sarker and former Vice President of City AL Naosher Ali while Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khondker conducted the video conferencing from Rajshahi side.
Divisional Commissioner Humayun Kabir Khandker informed the Prime Minister about various steps taken to implement 'Clean Village and Clean Town' programme. In response, Prime Minister welcomed the steps and said she wants to ensure civic facilities in every villages and she had also the aim so that each man can live nicely, neatly and cleanly. She added, she wants every area becomes neat and clean.
AHM Khairuzzaman Liton informed the Prime Minister, last year he worked to contain the Dengue and this year he took preparations with the divisional and district administration as well as the Health Department to resist coronavirus. Moreover, as a measure of cleanliness drive, RCC has already started to clean all large and medium city drains so that there was no water logging in the city and fogger machines are being used to end menace of mosquito.
RCC Mayor expressed his gratitude towards the Prime Minister for cooperating Rajshahi City Corporation saying he was grateful, as the Prime Minister has recently allocated a fund of Taka 3,000 crore for the city's development. He further mentioned, he was working in accordance with the order of the Prime Minister and he wants to keep people of the region happy with the full use of the cooperation he received from the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed to keep all wards of Rajshahi city neat and clean adding that there should be a separate place for disposal of wastes in every ward. She also vowed to recycle the wastes. She directed the concerned ministry to clean the hospital wastes totally.
