The rapid action battalion (RAB) in Jhenaidah-6 have arrested four alleged killers of Swadhin Biswas of Chaklapara area from Circuit House area in Jhenaidah on Sunday midnight. The arrested were identified as the prime accused Pradip Biswas, son of Ganesh Biswas, Shanti Ram Biswas, 50, son of Haran Biswas, Shanti Ram’s son Narayan Biswas and Pradip Biswas’s father Ganesh Biswas, 55, all belong to Bhagabannagar in Shailkupa police station in Jhenaidah.
RAB sources said the arrested were locked in quarrel over playing a traditional Hindu cultural mud game (kadakhela) with the deceased Swadhin Biswas near Kalimandir area at village Bhagabannagar in Shailkupa upazila on April 20 evening. Following the altercation, the accused started beating up Sunil Biswas, the father of Swadhin Biswas at about 8pm.
When Swadhin Biswas appeared there hearing hue and cry, the attackers started beating him oh his head and other parts indiscriminately. He was taken to Jhenaidah 250-beded general hospital where he succumbs to his injuries there on May 14. Swadhin’s father Sunil Biswas filed a case with Shailkupa police station against a number of people including 14 names persons. The RAB had arrested six others for their alleged involvement in Swadhin Biswas killing case earlier.
The arrested were handed over to Shailkupa police staion, the RAB sources said.
