Especially the lower class and the middle class are having a hard time. Although the price of everything in the market has increased, people's income has not increased. Due to which people are in extreme difficulty while running the family.
Due to the low wages in the villages, people who are unable to support their families are moving to the city with their families in search of work.
The upazila's Chatur Bazar, Bara Bazar, Haturia, Nakalia, Raksa, Varenga, Natiabari and various small and big markets and markets are visited and the correspondent found out from time to time the price of almost all products including fuel oil, edible oil, rice, flour and the list goes. Since its growth, it has had a great impact on the bazaars. Markets are not like before. There is no gathering of people or customers. It can be said that people do not buy anything else except essential food items to eat daily. The necessary things are calculated and the day is passed by buying as much as it is not enough or a little less. Traders said that every day the number of people in the bazaar is getting less than before. Again, the people who come to the bazaar are returning home after buying useful things. As before, many people do not spend time in tea shops or hotels for fear of additional expenses. Due to the economic recession, many of the traders in the haat-bazaar have to open their shops and sit for hours with their hands folded in the hope of buyers.
Small and medium businessmen are most at risk. Their condition is very deplorable. On Wednesday, after visiting Nakalia market in the upazila, it was seen that there are no people as before even after the market. Almost the streets are empty with very few customers. The sale of cages is also decreasing.
Talked with Baidyanath Kundu, shopkeeper of electric and curd, he said, I opened the shop in the morning and now it is 12 o'clock in the afternoon, but it has not been seeing any customer till now. Market tea seller Bachchu Prang, Ujjal, Khair, Hamid, Hatchen, Sweet shopkeeper Deepak Kumar Kundu, Ranjan Kundu Retailer Bhairavadas, Babu Das, Hashem Bamboo seller Noor Islam, Tutul, Samad, Baker trader Babu, Bashar, Copper trader Rajab Ali, Chalam, Dulal, Rahman and other traders of various professions said that the market does not look like before. Shopping is less, people gathering is very less. It can be said that they have no income due to lack of livelihood. They said that because of the increased price of everything, the income is less and they are struggling to run the family every day. Due to lack of sustenance, small businessmen are forced to sit on the road. Due to the lack of work and business recession, many people from different areas, including day laborers, leave the village in groups with their families in search of work for the purpose of different cities including the capital Dhaka.
