Stocks on Sunday witnessed a downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 13.46 points or 0.19 per cent to settle at 7,237.14.
Two other indices also closed lower. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, lost 7.95 points to finish at 2,665.61 and the DSE Shariah Index fell 6.47 points to close at 1,574.59.
The daily trade turnover on the DSE also plunged to Taka 22,572.93 million which was Taka 18,524.29 million at the previous session. Losers took a strong lead over the gainers as out of 376 issues traded, 230 closed lower, 113 higher and 33 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Orion Pharma dominated the turnover chart, followed by Beximco, LHBL, SPCL and Delta Life.
AAMRANET was the day's best performer, posting a gain of 9.93 per cent while CVOPRL was the worst loser, losing 7.63 per cent following its price adjustment after record date.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also ended lower with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)-slumping 19.35 points to close at 21,126.71 while the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 10.99 points to close at 12,676.22.
Of the issues traded, 172 declined, 113 advanced and 32 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city bourse traded 2.38 crore shares and mutual fund units with turnover value of more than Taka 95.24 crore.
