President Mohammed Shahabuddin emphasized the urgent need for organizing higher education programs in alignment with global standards, in a recent meeting with Dhaka University officials. The meeting, held on Wednesday at Bangabhaban, DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal leading a delegation to discuss the future direction of the university.
According to the Bangabhaban Press Wing, the Vice-Chancellor briefed the President on the comprehensive master plan formulated for the overall development of Dhaka University. This plan, to be executed in three phases over 15 years, aims to bring about significant changes in both academic and residential infrastructure.
President Shahabuddin stressed the importance of prioritizing research to make higher education more meaningful. He underscored the rapidly changing global landscape due to revolutionary advancements in information technology, emphasizing the necessity for adapting educational programs, including curricula, to keep pace with these changes. He highlighted the importance of enabling students to showcase their skills and abilities effectively in the international arena.
