Low and middle income pregnant women and new born children are being given transport supports from their houses to hospitals or clinics, and from hospitals or clinics to houses by two ambulances of Tara Devi Foundation in Chuadanga district since 2016 at free of cost.
A total of 8,400 pregnant women and new born children have got ambulance support without fare from 2016 to May, 2023 by the foundation through the ongoing program.
Meanwhile, the foundation has been giving different type of supports for the pregnant women and new born children from the period. It is learnt, sever bleeding, pregnancy related infections and delivery pains of pregnant women are needed transport support from their houses to hospitals and clinics for treatment and to return also houses but low and middle income people have to bear expenses of transports causing facing problems. For this reason the foundation has been giving transport facilities free of cost for them.
However, the foundation helps financially and ambulance support to 8,400 pregnancy women, new born children and postnatal during 7 years. Official sources said, about 1,772 pregnant women and new born children have got transport facility free of cost by the ambulances of Tara Devi Foundation from January, 2022 to May, 2023. The upazila wise breaks up are-812 mothers and children in sadar upazila, 532 mothers and children in Alamdanga upazila, 140 mothers and children in Jibannagar upazila and 288 mothers and children in Damurhuda upazila.
Alamgir Kabir Shiplu, Chief Executive Officer of the foundation said, husbands or parents of the pregnant women phoned the concerned person of the foundation for getting ambulance, accordingly the on duty driver rushed there and dropped her from house to hospitals and from hospital to house.
Dilip Kumar Agarwala, Chairman of the foundation said, poor and middle men of the areas have no sufficient financial ability to bear the fare of ambulance for the pregnancy mothers and new born child, for this reason admitting them at hospitals and clinics the foundation has arranged to support them transport free of cost since 2016.
