A mother dolphin has been found floating in a net on Kuakata beach. The seven-and-a-half-foot-long dolphin first floated at the mouth of three rivers in Kuakata's Lemburchar on Sunday morning.
Witnesses said the dolphin was wrapped in a net and had a front wing cut off. The dolphin came ashore and was in agony. It is assumed that the dolphin had a baby in its womb. The trembling dolphin was later rescued and released into the sea. However, after a while, the dead dolphin came
ashore again.
Sagoka Smriti, an animal researcher at Ecophys, said the siege may have caught the dolphin in a fisherman's net returning to the coast. But it died because it had its front fan cut off with a sharp object and left in the sea, wrapped in a net.
