A Qur'an recitation, special prayer, discussion meeting and public feast were held at Chakaria in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday for deceased Awami League lenders Nurul Absar and Master Shafiul Islam.
Alhaj Zafar Alam, MP from Cox's Bazar-1 constituency, attended the programme, held at Harbang High School Ground in the upazila as the chief guest.
The meeting was chaired by local UP chairman and Union Awami League President Miranul Islam Miran. Upazila Awami League general secretary Gias Uddin Chowdhury, district AL leader Aminur Rashid Dulal, Walid Milton and others spoke on the occasion.
About 50,000 people took part in the feast organized by local MP Alhaj Zafar Alam. Later, a special prayer was offered for the peace and prosperity of those two leaders.
