Popular director of Dhaka film and former general secretary of Film Producers Association and former president of Film Club Sharifuddin Khan Dipu has passed away. He was 65 years old at the time of his death.
He died at 10:30 am on Friday (October 23) in the ICU of Anwar Khan Modern Medical Hospital in the capital.
Shamsul Alam, the current general secretary of the producers' association, confirmed his death.
He said Dipu was recently infected with corona. When his condition deteriorated, he was admitted to the hospital. Two days ago, his coronavirus report came back negative. However, he was suffering from lungs ailment. So he was being treated in the ICU. He died there on Friday morning.
Shamsul Alam asked for blessings for Dipu and his family.
Meanwhile, according to family sources of the late director, Sharifuddin Khan Dipu was buried in a cemetery in Dhanmondi after Janaza at a mosque on Dhanmondi 7 after Asr prayers on Friday.
Director and producer Sharifuddin Khan Dipu also owned two cinema halls in Dhaka. He has produced about 22 films. Notable films include Hira Amar Naam, Desh Dorodi, Kalpurush, Baba Number One, Ami Gunda Ami Mastan, Action Jasmine, Koti Takar Prem.
