Jhenaidah district council chairman M Harun Or Rashid had distributed bicycle among the poor students, while sewing machines among the poor women at his office premises on Monday.
M Harun Or Rashid said the bicycles were distributed among the poor and meritorious students, especially, girls so that they could reduce their educational expenses for transports and move here and there for educational purposes round the year.
It will also help them move with boldness to grow as good citizens when the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina desired build each and every citizen as responsible citizens for a better Bangladesh.
The sewing machines distributed among the poor and disadvantaged women will help them stand on their own feet overcoming acute poverty and hunger through an income generation activities of their families with a short time. It will help them ensure socio-economic state of the women community and empowerment, district council office sources said.
