Election campaign for Awami League nominated candidate for Gopalganj-3 constituency (Kotalipara-Tungipara) Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was held at Bhangarhat Bazar in Radhaganj union under Kotalipara upazila of the district Friday.
Representative of Gopalganj-3 constituency and former senior secretary Md. Shahid Ullah Khandaker organised the campaign on behalf of Sheikh Hasina for the national polls slated for January 7.

Prominent businessman and Awami League leader Jahangir Hossain Khan, Convener of Radhaganj Union Election Management Committee of "Boat" symbol Debdular Basu Paltu, former Chairman of Radhaganj Union Parishad Amrit Lal Haldar, President of Radhaganj Union Awami League Sarbanand Baidya, its General Secretary Abdul Malek Molla, Member of upazila Awami League Khairul Alam Ripon, District Chhatra League former President Abdul Hamid, Kotalipara Upazila Chhatra League former General Secretary Rafiqul Islam, Awami League leaders Sheikh Shawkat, Dr. Ashish Pandey, Russell Molla Bandhan, Jubo League leader Borhan Uddin, Upazila Jubo Mohila League General Secretary Ruby Biswas, its Joint General Secretary Shirin Khanam were present, among others.
BSS, from Rajshahi adds: As the upcoming 12th parliament election is knocking the door, campaigning everywhere in the district has reached a peak like other parts of the country.
Most of the contestants and the heavyweights in particular have engaged all strengths to drum up support for them in all six constituencies in Rajshahi district.
Candidates from all parties, including Awami League (Boat), Jatiya Party (Plough), National People's Party (Mango), Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Movement(Anchor), Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Torch or Moshal) and the Independents are in the election spree.
The supporters and activists of the respective parties are regularly moving places of their electoral areas with banners, placards and symbols along with the party candidates. In Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanore), Omor Faruque Chowdhury (Boat), Golam Rabbani (Scissor) Shamsuzzoha Babu (Anchor), Sharmin Akter Nipa alias Mahia Mahi (Truck), Akhteruzzaman (Eggle), Bashir Ahmed (Stick), Al Sadat (Television),Zamal Khan Dudu (Golden Fibre), Nurun Nessa (Mango) and Muhammad Shahmsuddin (Plough) in the election race).
Six contestants namely Fazley Hossain Badsha (Boat), Prof Shafiqur Rahman Badsha (Scissor), Abdullah Al Masud Shibly (Torch), Kamrul Hassan (Anchor), Saiful Hassan Swapan (Plough), Yasir Habib Bin Alif (Stick) and Maruf Shahriar (Coconut) are in the election fight in Rajshahi-2 (Rajshahi city.
Another six candidates are in the election battle in Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur) constituency. They are Asaduzzaman Asad (Boat), Matiur Rahman (Anchor), Abdus Salam Khan (Plough), Enamul Haque (Stick), Bazlur Rahman(Television) and Saibur Rahman (Mango).
In Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara) constituency), six contestants namely Abul Kalam Azad (Boat), Engineer Enamul Haque (Scissor), Zinnatul Islam Zinna (Mango), Abu Taleb (Plough), Babul Hossain (Mathal) and Saiful Islam (Anchor) are in the election race.
There are also six contestants in Rajshahi-5 (Puthiya-Durgapur) constituency. They are Abdul Wadud Dara (Boat), Abul Hossain (Plough), Obaidur Rahman (Eggle), Altaf Hossain Molla (Ektara), Shariful Islam (Anchor) and Mukhlesur Rahman (Fish).
In Rajshahi-6 (Bagha-Charghat) constituency, there are six candidates in the election battle. They are Shahriar Alam (Boat), Abdus Samad (Anchor), Shamsuddin Rintu (Plough), Rahenul Haque (Scissor), Mohsin Ali (Mango)and Zulfiker Mannan Zmi (Torch).
Meanwhile, the candidates are seen meeting voters irrespective of age, sex and creed and caste with posters and leaflets to drum up support for them from early morning to midnight.
Flanked by a large number of party leaders and workers the contestants are also seen meeting voters seeking their support throughout the day.
Workers and activists of the candidates were seen very much busy hanging posters and opening election offices. Several parts of the district got a new look with huge posters, banners and festoons.
"I am very much happy and enjoying the changed atmosphere," said Nazrul Islam, a sexagenarian voter of Budhpara area.
He expressed hope that all the contestants and their supporters will follow the election code of conduct till the last day of the campaign. 0 Afroza Akter Poly, a resident of Upashahar area, expressed her happiness over the election mode across the district. She, however, expects a peaceful and congenial atmosphere during the entire electioneering period.
