The police men of Jhenaidah have arrested four fraud gang members known as Jiner Badsha from the remote village of Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha. They allegedly cheated a woman in Jhenaidah and decamped with four tollas of gold and cash Taka six lakh. The arrested were produced before the media activists in office of superintendent of police on Saturday noon. The arrested were identified as Raihan Hossain, 25, son of Mintu Podder, Tuhin Hosain, Ziaur Rahman, 22, son of Azal Haque and Milon Das, 35, son of Narayan Das of Biswanathpur village of Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha.
Superintendent of police (SP) Muntasirul Islam said the fraud gang members had phoned some Renuka Khatun of Jhenaidah on November 3 night saying that seven pots filled with gold ornaments were preserved in the pond near her house. She will have to pay Taka 560 for purchasing a Jainamaz, meant for regular daily prayer.
As per the phone call, Renuka sent the amount through a Nagad account. Later the gang allegedly cheated the woman and decamped with four tollas of gold and cash Taka for six lakh. When Renuka realized that she was cheated, filed a case under digital security act with Jhenaidah Sadar police station on February 25.
Having the allegation of cheating, Jhenaidah district cyber crime investigation cell had detected the criminals and managed to nab them from remote villages of Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha.
