Community Policing Day-2023 was celebrated by Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) and Community Policing in Chattogram on Saturday.
The day programmes began at Metropolitan Police Lines at Dampara in the port city by releasing pigeons-balloons and festoons as symbols of peace.
The colourful rally the various streets of the city. Later, a discussion meeting was held under the chairmanship of CMP Commissioner Krishna Pada Roy at the Multipurpose Shed of Police Lines. Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) mayor Freedom Fighter Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury was the chief guest. DainkkAzadiEditor and Chattogram Metropolitan Community Police convener MA Malek was the special guest.
Chief guest CCC Mayor respectfully recalled the contribution of policemen in the Bangladesh War of Liberation. He praised the role of policemen during the corona pandemic.
CMP Commissioner said, in addition to the fear of crime, he highlighted the importance of community policing to eliminate the fear of the police and called upon everyone to selflessly stand by the police and fulfill their civic duties.
Police emphasized on people working shoulder to shoulder to build a safe city for the new generation.
He thanked the CPOs and community policing officers of each police station for their year-long activities and handed over mementos to them.
This year on the occasion of Community Policing Day-2023 have been nominated to SI (retd) Rajib Paul of BayezidBostami Police Station, SI (retd) ArtunBarua of Sadarghat Police Station, SI (retd) Nipu Biswas of Doublemooring Model Police Station and SI (retd) Ashish Kumar of EPZ Police Station.
General Secretary of Community Policing Doublemooring Model Police Station Asad Khan, Member Secretary of Community Policing Panchlaish Model Police Station Mohammad Abu Saeed Salim, General Secretary of Community Policing Bakoli Police Station Faisal Ahmed Rubel and Executive Committee Member of Community Policing EPZ Police Station Salim Afzal have been nominated as the best community policing members.
CMP Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration and Finance) MA Masud, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime and Operations) AS Mahtab Uddin, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Abdul Mannan Mia, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarters) Md. Abdul Warish , Chittagong Metropolitan Community Policing Committee member secretary AhidSiraj Chowdhury Swapan along with other police officials, metropolitan community policing and beat policing leaders were present.
