The 63th birth anniversary of Poet Sarder Azad is today (December 4).
On the occasion, friend circle of Sarder Azad will arrange a lovely gathering and poem recitation programme from his poems at a restaurant in the capital, says a press release issued by AKS Ratan, Assistant Editor of Kobitangon. On this day in 1958, Poet Sarder Azad was born at Gosairhat upazila in Shariatpur. His late father Shamsul Haque Sarder was dedicated social worker.
Sarder Azad began poem writing in his college life. His books include ‘Chotoder Priyo Kobi Golam Mostafa’, ‘Chhonde Anondo’, ‘Nishiddho Uccharon’ and ‘Hridoye Podma Monone Gonga’.
He received ‘Bazar Bangla Songbad Award-2007’ from India for his book ‘Hridoye Podma Monone Gonga’, while he received ‘Nazrul Gold Medal’ for the book ‘Nishiddho Uccharon’. Sarder Azad is the Editor of poetry magazine ‘Kobitangon’ and general secretary of poetry organisation ‘World Poetry Center, Bangladesh’.
