Poet Syeda Rashida Bari has been honoured with ‘12th Wazed Miah International Gold Medal Award-2022’ for her contribution to literature, said a press release.
At its international award giving ceremony at the National Press Club, Dr. M.A. Wazed Miah Memorial Foundation gave awards to nine eminent personalities for their significant contributions to different fields of society.
Md Abdur Rahman, freedom fighter and presidium member of Awami League, attended the event as the chief guest.
A K M Farhadul Kabir, founder and central president of the Foundation, presided over it, while Md Mashiur Rahman, general secretary of the Foundation, delivered the address of welcome.
On behalf of the Foundation, Md Abdur Rahman, was made the chief adviser of the organisation at the event.
Eminent people from home and abroad attended the programme on Tuesday afternoon.
Syeda Rashida Bari was given a crest, a medal and a certificate as part of the award.
A multi-dimensional writer, Syeda Rashida Bari is the author of over 100 books. She is lyricist of Bangladesh Betar, BTV and film.
Besides, Syeda Rashida Bari is the editor-cum-publisher of the Dhaka-based monthly magazine ‘The Swapner Desh’.
Kazi Manirul Islam Manu, lawmaker from Dhaka-5 constituency, AHM Shafiquzzaman, Additional Secretary and Director General of National Consumers Rights Protection Department, among others, were present.
