Pneumonia patients rushing in Chuadanga hospital

Pneumonia patients are rushing in Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for treatment and the authorities are serving them with limited resources.

A total of 320 pneumonia patients were treated in Chuadanga Sadar Hospital during the last seven days and 95 patients are now under treatment in child ward in the hospital.

Of the admitted pneumonia patients, Aysa Shiddika, 11, daughter of Abu Bakor Siddik of village Daulatdiar in sadar upazila of the district, was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and died on September 12, hospital sources said.

It is learnt that most of the pneumonia patients are children. There are 15 beds for them. But 15 children pneumonia patients got bed and rest of 80- child patients are lying on floor and porch for treatment.

Dr. Asadur Rahman Malik Khokon, child specialist of the hospital said a change of weather is behind the attack of pneumonia.

Shamim Kabir, RMO of the hospital said we are facing accommodation problem. Due to overcrowding in the hospital the new patients are being accommodated on floor and veranda. We are giving our best support to the patients.
