The 74th birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was celebrated in a festive mood across the country on Monday (September 28).
Awami League and its associate bodies and various other socio-cultural organisations observed the day with various programmes in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country.
In JU, the authorities of the universit celebrated he PM’s birthday with various programmes, reports our JU Correspondent.
On this occasion, following the hygiene rules, Sheikh Hasina Hall administration of the university organised a discussion on the life and works of Sheikh Hasina.
Joining the event online as the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof Farzana Islam said, “Sheikh Hasina is driving the nation towards prosperity following the footsteps of Bangabandhu. During the global Corona epidemic, her far-sighted decision to protect the health of the masses and minimizing economic losses prove her efficiency as a PM. Bangladesh has become a country of steady economic growth under her strict and exact leadership. She has taken Bangladesh to the brink of development as a happy and prosperous country.”
In NSTU, the Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU) has celebrated the day with many arrangements, reports our NSTU Correspondent.
On the occasion, teachers and officials of the university cut birthday cake on the premises of the Central Shaheed Minar on the campus and in front of the administrative building.
During this time, NSTU treasurer Prof Dr. Mohammed Faruque Uddin, NSTU Registrar Prof Dr. Md. Abul Hossain, President of NSTU Teachers Association Prof Dr. Newaz Mohammed Bahadur, General Secretary Maznur Rahman, President of NSTU Officers Association Shakhawat Hossain,General Secretary Mezbah Uddin and other students-teachers, officials-employees of the university were present.
Later, prayers and milad mahfil were organized at the central mosque of the university where NSTU treasurer Professor Dr. Mohammed Faruque Uddin, NSTU Registrar Prof Dr. Md. Abul Hossain and other students-teachers, officials-employees of the university were present.
In Kushtia, a group of leaders and activists of the Islamic University (IU) unit of Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) celebrated the birthday on the campus in Kushtia, reports our IU Correspondent.
Marking the day, the unit rebel leaders of the wing arranged a Daa and Munazat programme at tent of the organisaiton around 12:30pm on the campus.
Former president of IU BCL unit also the president of IU officers Association M Shamsul Islam Joha and its members Ukil Uddin, Abdur Rashid Bokul and Abdus Salam Selim attended here.
Later, the wing planted over 30 saplings in different places on the campus led by Faisal Siddique Arafat, Mizanur Rahman Lalon, Shishir Islam Babu.
Prof Dr M Shahjahan Mandal of IU Law department appreciated the wing leaders for arranging the tree plantation programme while he also took part the programme.
Earlier, they distributed sweets among the participants over celebrating Awami League leader's birthday.

In Jamalpur, leaders and activists of Chhatra League planted trees at different places at Sarishabari upazila in the district marking 74th birthday of Sheikh Hasina, reports our Sarishabari Correspondent.
In Kabaria Bari, Matiar Rahman Talukdar Railway Station, Baroipatal Shahidnagar Railway Station premises the trees were planted at the initiative of Upazila Chhatra League GS aspirant Asaduzzaman Babu all day long.

In Pabna, the 74th birth anniversary of Sheikh Hasina was celebrated at the initiative of Santhia Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad, reports our Santhia Correspondent.
Former State Minister for Home Affairs and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs Adv. Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP cut a birthday cake at the newly constructed Muktijoddha Complex in the noon.
At the time, chief guest Adv. Shamsul Haque Tuku said, " Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working at the risk of her life to build the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream and has gained Bangladesh international status. If Sheikh Hasina had not taken the torch of the liberation war in her hand, the country would have gone to the defeated power of the liberation war and Pakistani ideology". Former Commander of Santhia Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad Abdul Latif presided over the function while Santhia Upazila Chairman and President of Upazila AL unit Abdullah Al Mahmud Delwar, MP Adv. Asif Shams Ranjan, Freedom Fighter Sohrab Ali and others were present. On the occasion, the newly constructed Muktijoddha Complex in Santhia was handed over to the freedom fighters. The MP later attended another celebratory programme held on the occasion at the Upazila AL office.

In Gaibandha, the 74th birthday of Prime Minister was celebrated in the district amidst much enthusiasm. On the occasion, Awami League and its front organisations arranged various programmes including discussion, milad mahfil and special prayers.
A discussion was held at the party office with Vice President of district Awami League Anwar Hossain Chowdhury in the chair. General Secretary of district Awami League Abu Bakar Siddique, Joint Secretary Mozammel Haque Mondol, Organizing Secretary Mridul Mostafi Jhantu and President of sadar upazila Awami League Rezaul Karim Reza and GS Aminur Zaman Rinku among others participated in it.
Special prayers were also organized seeking sound health and long life of PM Sheikh Hasina, following health safety guidelines and other rules, set by the government amidst COVID -19 pandemic. Later, a cake was cut at district Awami League party office to mark the day.
