A sanitary mechanic was stabbed to death by a student in Chayabithi area of Gazipur city on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Sadek Ali, 32, son of Md Shah Alam of Bakakora area under Jhinaigati police station of Sherpur.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gazipur Sadar Police Station Md. Rafiqul Islam informed that Sadek used to work as a sanitary mechanic from a rented house in Chayabithi area. On the night, Kausar, son of Shafiqul Islam of West Bhurulia area who passed HSC exam this year from Kazi Azim Uddin College, got into a scuffle with Sadek in front of a grocery store in Madhya Chayabithi area.
At one point, Kausar struck Sadek in the throat with a sharp weapon, injuring him seriously. The locals rescued Sadek and took him to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital where the on duty doctors declared him dead.
The OC further informed that the murder took place due to a junior-senior conflict. Kausar got into a fight with Sadek for not being greeted with salutation. Attempts were being made to arrest Kausar.
