Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin said that everyone should plant at least three trees to make the country a green Bangladesh. In order to maintain the balance of the country's forests, wildlife and biodiversity and the environment, we must plant as many trees as we can.
He made the remarks after inspecting the stalls of tree fair and environment fair 2022 on behalf of the Prime Minister at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on June 5. Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar; Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed; Director General of the Department of Environment Dr. Abdul Hamid, and Md Amir Hossain Chowdhury, Chief Conservator of Forests were present among others.
The Forest Minister said that this year's tree fair has become very rich and eye-catching with the various local and foreign trees. As the environment of the tree fair is beautiful, people will be able to buy saplings of their choice and will be motivated to plant trees. He further said that the visitors will be able to gain practical knowledge about the causes of environmental pollution and environmental conservation from the various types of stalls at the environment fair.
It is to be noted that the tree fair with 110 stalls will run every day from 8 am to 8 pm till July 4. On the other hand, with 55 stalls, environment fair will run daily from 10 am to 8 pm till June 11.
Earlier, at the inaugural function of World Environment Day and Environment Fair 2022 and National Tree Plantation Campaign and Tree Fair 2022, the Minister on behalf of Hon'ble Prime Minister, presented National Environment Medal, Prime Minister's National Award for Tree Plantation, Bangabandhu Award for Wildlife Conservation and benefits to social forestry beneficiaries.
