Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar said noted nuclear scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah will be remembered forever as he had worked unselfishly for the nation.
“Dr Wazed worked selflessly for the nation. He will be a role model for all and people will always remember him for his contribution toward the nation. He was a humble, polite, unselfish and liberal man,” he said.
“Dr Wazed Miah, who was an honest man and had a great personality, lived an ordinary life despite living very close to state power,” the minister said addressing a memorial meeting on Dr Wazed Miah organized by Scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah Smrity Pathagar at its auditorium in the city's Mohammadpur on Tuesday as the chief guest on the occasion of the 13th death anniversary of Dr Wazed Miah, a press release said on Wednesday.
With Advisor of Scientist Dr MA Wazed Miah Smrity Pathagar and former Member of Parliament Chobi Biswash in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Member of Parliament Sherin Ahmed, Secretary to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker and Additional Secretary of the Pathagar Porichalona Committee Abul Kalam Azad.
Referring to Wazed's life and works, other speakers said that Dr MA Wazed Miah always thought about science and human welfare.
They also called upon the people to build the Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman being imbued with the ideals of education and knowledge of Wazed Miah.
