Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said, “DNCC is working with highest priority to eradicate dengue outbreak. Not only on behalf of the city corporation alone but also the people must take responsibility for complete eradication.”
He said these things during the anti-dengue awareness campaign in Khilbarirtek area under the 39th ward of DNCC on Wednesday afternoon.
At this time DNCC Mayor said, 'Dengue outbreak is increasing in the current weather. We see rain often followed by sunshine. Aedes mosquitoes thrive in such climates. So I call upon the people to be more careful at this time.'
At the time, he also said, 'It has been seen that Aedes mosquitoes grow more not from drains, reservoirs and sewers but from accumulated water in houses. I request you to throw away the accumulated water in the house.'
Urging the people to keep their homes clean, the DNCC Mayor said, '10 minutes every Saturday, clean our respective homes. Everyone should take care that water does not accumulate on the roof of the house, in the yard, in the flower tub. Aedes larvae are born in stagnant water. Everyone should be careful about this.'
DNCC Mayor said, 'We are regularly collecting the list of dengue patients from the hospital and doing more larviciding and fogging in the patient's house and surrounding houses. Our activities are ongoing to completely destroy mosquito breeding grounds. However, if the people are aware, it will be possible to eliminate the Aedes mosquito.
Urging the City Corporation to provide information in case of dengue, the DNCC Mayor said, 'In case of dengue, give detailed information including address immediately. We will not punish you for providing information. Rather, if we get information, it will be easier to take measures to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes. As a result, the residents of that area including your family members will be spared from dengue.'
In response to mediaperson's question, DNCC Mayor said, 'City Corporation is conducting regular anti-dengue awareness campaign. Drones are being used to detect stagnant water and mosquito breeding grounds on roofs. Strict measures will be taken if Aedes larvae are found in houses and any building. Regular cases and fines will be imposed.
During the campaign, the DNCC Mayor personally inspected the house of a dengue patient and some houses in the vicinity to see if there is water accumulation on the roofs of the houses using sophisticated drones. To increase public awareness, he participated in road shows and distributed awareness leaflets among the people.
