A significant influx of visitors was observed at Dhaka International Trade Fair on Saturday.
The organizers of the fair reported that they successfully sold entry tickets amounting to Tk 26 lakh on Friday, surpassing the previous highest sales of Tk 7 lakh.
The 28th edition of the Dhaka International Trade Fair, currently underway at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Rupganj, Narayanganj.
Fair organizers and participants reported a gradual increase in footfall since the morning, with the crowd reaching its peak on Friday and Saturday. The surge in visitors was particularly notable, given that it coincided with the first holiday after the fair's inauguration.
A seller at Delhi aluminum said that since the beginning of the fair last Saturday, the number of buyers is the highest today. But most of them were only exploring. We hope it will take another week to see an increase in our sales. According to several stalls' information, sales have increased on Friday as the number of visitors see a peak on the same day. They hope that the fair will get momentum from the beginning of next month.
Crowds at the local and foreign pavilions in the fair were noticeable. On the occasion of the fair, various organizations are offering various discounts and gifts. The sales staff of various companies say that special discounts are given on all types of products on the occasion of the fair every year. As a result, customers rushed to the stall-pavilion.
Every time the sellers give various offers to increase the sales in the fair. Some sellers are offering one product free with one product. Many are selling their products in package form. Others are offering direct discounts of 10 to 50 percent on product prices.
Chairman of Rupganj Union Parishad Chalauddin Bhuiyan said, as the public transports including BRTC buses increased to visit the fair, anyone can visit the fair very easily. As a result, the response will be better than last year.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce AHM Ahsan said that the international trade fair is currently being held on 26 acres of land. Expansion of another 9 acres is in progress. RAB, Police and Ansar members are conducting surveillance to ensure flawless security at the trade fair.
Secretary of Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Bibek Sarkar said, like every year, we are giving full cooperation to keep the environment of Dhaka International Trade Fair fair, safe and clean.
The fair features some 351 local and foreign stalls, pavilions and mini- pavilions up from the previous year’s tally of 225. Besides, some 18 organizations from several countries including Singapore, Indonesia, Korea and India are taking part in the fair.
