The hustle and bustle of the capital resumed as people began returning to the capital by road, rail, and river after Eid. On Wednesday, bus terminals, Sadarghat launch terminal, and railway stations were crowded with those heading back to work, though many expressed regret at having to return so quickly.
Meanwhile, others who couldn't travel home for Eid due to work were now seizing the opportunity to visit their families.
At Kamalapur Railway Station, dawn saw a flood of people disembarking from capital-bound trains, ready to resume their responsibilities. Each train brought in numerous passengers, all heading to their workplaces.
Road travel painted a slightly different picture. Bus terminals, including Gabtali, Sayedabad, and Mohakhali, experienced lower passenger volumes. Many workers returned to Dhaka alone, leaving their families behind as they resumed their jobs.
River travel also saw significant activity, with a rush of passengers at Paturia-Daulatdia Ghat early in the morning. Returnees reported a smooth journey back to Dhaka, mentioning that the lower passenger pressure on the first day made the return less stressful.
Conversely, those who stayed in Dhaka for work during Eid were now making their way home. Bus terminals, railway stations, and Sadarghat were busy as these individuals finally took their turn to reunite with their loved ones.
The post-Eid period is marked by a blend of returning workers and late holidaymakers, all navigating the busy transport hubs of Dhaka, reflecting the city's dynamic and ever-moving spirit.
