Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdur Razzaque said, no force can overthrow the Awami League, because the foundation and roots of the Awami League are in the soil and people of this country. The people will repeatedly elect the Awami League by huge votes.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the Ashulia Thana Awami League's triennial conference at the BNCC ground in Ashulia on Monday afternoon.
Dr Md Abdur Razzaque said the BNP would be happy if an election commission was formed with Pakistani generals and would accept it. But we want to make it clear again that elections will be held in Bangladesh under the present Election Commission. Elections will be held on time, no one will be able to frustrate.
Addressing the local leaders and workers, the minister said the main force of the Awami League is the grassroots workers. Through the conference, leaders will be elected in different positions including presidents, general secretaries of different branches including wards, unions and police stations. We want to make presidents, general secretaries who will be idealistic, honest and soldiers of Bangabandhu's ideology. Therefore, those who group in the party, create quarrels, engage in chaotic activities, engage in dishonest activities, engage in extortion, tender bidding - you will not select them for any position in the party. You will elect honest, relentless workers and workers of Bangabandhu's ideology as leaders. Then they will not hesitate to give their lives for the implementation of Bangabandhu's ideology.
The Minister said that some intellectuals of the country, some members of the civil society and anti-independence forces including Razakar, Al-Badr were carrying out various activities with different aims and objectives and were spreading false propaganda against Bangladesh. There is no limit to their regrets for Pakistan. They still dream day and night - to make Bangladesh Pakistan again. But no matter how hard they try, they will not succeed. Awami League leaders and workers will deal with them with the people.
