Officials of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) have visited the spot along with three accused Badal, Kalam and Saju in two cases filed for torturing a woman by stripping her naked at Begumganj in Noakhali.
Accompanied by the three accused, Inspector Mamunur Rashid Patwari, the investigating officer of the case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, went to the victim's house at Joykrishnapur village of Eklashpur Union in the morning. Senior PBI officials were present at the time.
The PBI officials also visited surrounding area of the victim's house. However, they did not speak to anyone at the time.
Earlier on Friday morning, a team led by PBI Noakhali Inspector Subhash Chandra Pal visited the victim's house in Joykrishnapur village of Eklashpur Union. Apart from the two officers investigating the case, PBI Chattogram investigation expert Faruk Ahmed and former investigating officer of the two cases Begumganj Model Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mostaq Ahmed were present at the house. Police have been deployed at the house since the incident came to light.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Alamgir Hossain said the two cases filed by the victim under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act and the Pornography Control Act were transferred to the PBI on Friday as per the direction of the police headquarters.
The PBI has appointed Inspector Mamunur Rashid Patwari as the investigating officer in the case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
Besides, Inspector Mostafizur Rahman was made the investigating officer of the case filed under the Pornography Control Act.
A video of the woman being stripped naked and tortured and recorded on her mobile phone during the incident spread through social media last Sunday. That night, the police found the tortured woman and took her into custody. That night, the victim filed two cases under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act and the Pornography Control Act with the Begumganj Model Police Station.
In the statements of the two cases, the names of nine people were mentioned and 7/8 more unidentified people were made accused. So far 11 people have been arrested in the two cases. Of these, six have been registered and 5 have been added to the investigation.
