A patient infected with coronavirus, escaped from the isolation unit of Brahmanbaria Nursing Institute. On Sunday evening, the hospital authorities found out about the matter and filed a general diary at Sadar police station. No trace of the patient was found till Monday evening.
The patient’s name is Kefayet Ullah (38), son of late Anwaruzzaman of Tigor village in Sarail upazila.
A 50-bed isolation centre has been set up at the Brahmanbaria Nursing Institute for the treatment of patients suffering from coronavirus. As of Sunday noon, there were 22 COVID-19 patients in the isolation unit. In the afternoon, seven people were given certificates of recovery. Hospital authorities said Kefayet Ullah might have escaped while those seven recovered patients were returning to their respective homes.
The hospital authorities found out about the matter in the evening. They then filed a general diary at the Sadar police station. At present, 14 people are undergoing treatment in this isolation.
From April 11, corona treatment was started in a 20-bed isolation in Brahmanbaria Chest Disease Hospital of the district. Corona patients were treated there till May 31. Later on, June 1, all the patients in the isolation of that hospital were transferred and taken to the isolation of Brahmanbaria Nursing Institute.
Shawkat Hossain, caretaker of Brahmanbaria General Hospital, said a general diary had been filed at the police station on Sunday evening.
