Passengers rescued from tourist ship

Bangladesh Coast Guard has rescued passengers from a tourist ship stuck in the sea on the way to Saint Martin’s Island from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.

December 10, at 9:30 am,

Coast Guard Media Officer Lt Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi provided this information at around five o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday (December 10).

He said tourist ship "MV Green Line-1" departed Teknafsth BIWTA wharf at 9.30 am on Sunday for St. Martin’s with 44 tourists. Around 12 noon, the vessel got stuck in the sea 4 nautical miles north of St. Martin’s. 

At that time, when the ship contacted St. Martin's Coast Guard Station, several rescue teams from Coast Guard's St Martin’s and Teknaf stations arrived at the scene and rescued the tourists. In the afternoon, the rescued were taken safely to the island of St. Martin’s.

This Coast Guard official also said that the tourists who fell ill at the time were given medical treatment in the Coast Guard ship Kamruzzaman anchored in Saint Martin’s Island.
