National team officials have indicated that young batter Parvez Hossain Emon is a strong contender for a place in the middle order. He is competing with Soumya Sarkar for the spot, and the selection panel aims to groom Emon for international T20 cricket.

The T20 cricketers will join the squad in Kanpur in the coming days. The first of the three-match T20 series is scheduled to take place in Gwalior. This series marks Bangladesh's return to T20 cricket following the World Cup and serves as a crucial stepping stone towards the 2026 World Cup. The squad for the India series features several new faces, reflecting the team's focus on building for the future.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh national cricket team arrived in Kanpur on Tuesday, the venue for the second Test against India. A chartered plane was arranged for both teams by the BCCI, with a departure time set for 1:30 PM. The crucial series decider will commence on September 27 and conclude on October 1.

Experienced campaigner Mahmudullah is likely to retain his place in the team. Shakib Al Hasan, a versatile all-rounder, is also expected to be a key part of the 2026 T20 World Cup plans.

Despite inconsistent performances in recent World Cups, Tanjid Tamim is set to receive regular opportunities to gain experience. Selector Hannan Sarkar emphasized the importance of domestic tournaments like the BPL and NCL T20 league in preparing for the 2026 World Cup.

In the spin bowling department, mystery spinner Alis Al Islam has been making significant strides. If he remains injury-free, he could be included in the home series against Zimbabwe. A strong performance could solidify his place in the national team.

While the team already has experienced spinners like Rishad Hossain and Shakib-Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, who has been struggling with form, may be considered as an alternative option. His ability to contribute both with bat and ball makes him a valuable asset.

The rise of pace bowlers has limited the opportunities for spinners in T20 cricket. However, those selected will join the squad in Kanpur on September 29, according to Hannan Sarkar.
