Nazmul Hassan Papon, the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has convened a meeting of the board of directors at the Ministry of Youth and Sports on Wednesday, where he is expected to announce his resignation from the position.

With the change in government, the long-awaited board meeting is finally set to occur. All BCB directors have been summoned to attend. Unlike previous meetings held at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla, this one will take place at the National Sports Council, starting at 11 AM. Papon is expected to join the meeting online.

A significant decision regarding the new BCB president is anticipated during this meeting. It has already been disclosed that Nazmul Hassan Papon is willing to step down from his position, and this decision could be finalised today. Additionally, a new member may be appointed to replace Jalal Yunus, who resigned on Monday.

A BCB director confirmed the details of Wednesday’s board meeting to a media outlet, stating, "An emergency board meeting has been called for 11 AM tomorrow. All directors are expected to attend. We have already received the email."

According to the BCB constitution, a minimum of nine directors must be present for the board meeting to proceed. The future of the cricket board hinges significantly on the outcomes of today's discussions.

For an extended period, Nazmul Hassan Papon has been the chief of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Despite the constitution stipulating the need for two vice-presidents, he did not appoint anyone to these roles during his tenure. Following the recent political changes, Papon's absence has led to a halt in the

board's activities.

The once bustling cricket board premises have now fallen silent, with many key figures retreating from the scene after the political shift. The whereabouts of board president Nazmul Hassan Papon remain unknown, and several other directors are also out of reach.

In this context, directors are set to convene for a crucial board meeting on Wednesday.
