State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak Tuesday said the government is working to ensure a completely digital paperless office and build cashless society by 2041.
"Our target is to ensure entirely digital paperless office and build cashless society by 2041. It will help ensure transparency and accountability," he said while speaking at a workshop as the chief guest in the city.
European Union organized the workshop titled 'Supporting Transparent e-Governance Policy in Bangladesh' at city hotel here, said a press release.
Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh Charles Whiteley delivered welcome address in the function.
Noting that the government services are being reached to the doorsteps of the people at a low-cost, within short-time and in a corruption-free manner using the modern technologies and the internet, Palak said, "Apart from using technology to build a smart government system, the government wants to ensure the accountability of government officials and employees and make them sympathetic".
A smart leadership academy will be set up for inclusive development under the initiative of the ICT Division, he added.
Bangladesh's preparations for digital ecosystem were presented in the workshop. Our correspondent adds: The state minister said that apart from using technology to build a smart government system, the government wants to ensure the accountability of government officials and employees and make them sympathetic.
He said that a smart leadership academy will be developed under the initiative of the ICT department for inclusive development.
Among the four pillars on which Digital Bangladesh is built, one of them is e-Governance and Smart Governance that has been started by the government. Digital transformation of services has not only reduced the time, visits and costs of the service users but also reduced the cost and corruption of the government officials through the use of internet and technology. Since the basic software are ready, it has been possible to keep almost everything running with self-invented solutions during Corona, he added.
Stating that the goal could not have been achieved without the partnership of businessmen, the state minister said in detail about the digital development of government services in the last 14 years.
He said we have taken business leaders and private sector forward as partners to achieve the goal.
The State Minister said that we are optimistic about the report given by the European Union highlighting the eighth five-year plan for the formation of a smart government with the aim of transforming into a smart Bangladesh. Together with them, we will move forward to build a government of transparency and accountability.
