Panel envisions better educational future

Agami Inc.,a renowned US-based non-profit dedicated to advancing education for all children, celebrated its 20th anniversary with a thought-provoking panel discussion on the future of education in Bangladesh. Held on March 16, 2024, at Brac Learning Centre, Uttara, the event delved into vital aspects such as curriculum innovation, technology integration, and the evolving role of educators.

The discussion, moderated by Mr. Mohammad Wahid Hossain, Agami Inc.'s Country Director, commenced with reflections on the organization's impactful two-decade journey in enhancing educational opportunities for underprivileged children. Dr. Ahmad Ahsan, Director of the Policy Research Institute (PRI), emphasized education's pivotal role in driving economic and human development, highlighting teachers' indispensable role as change-makers, facilitated by technology.

Dr. Akhtar Mahmood, an expert in innovative development approaches, stressed the need to redefine development priorities towards productivity and innovation. Dilruba Chowdhury, Director of Agami’s Education Technology Program, showcased Agami's initiatives like Khan Academy Bangla, aimed at modernizing traditional teaching methods through personalized tech-based learning. She expressed Agami’s commitment to empowering teachers through capacity development and innovative solutions.

Nafisa Khanam, lead of Agami’s Teacher’s Training program, addressed the implementation challenges of the new curriculum, assuring educators of its benefits and promising support in adapting to best practices.

The audience comprised 30 teachers from 15 schools, who had undergone a three-day training under Agami EdTech's “Learning in Tab” project. They actively participated, sharing their experiences and challenges, underscoring the need for collaborative efforts towards a brighter educational future.

The panel discussion concluded on an optimistic note, with educators pledging to collaborate for educational advancement in Bangladesh. Agami Inc.’s ongoing commitment to innovation and teacher empowerment emerges as a beacon of hope in shaping Bangladesh’s educational landscape for years to come.
