Prominent sports personality, social worker, educationist and businessman Palash Molla has been elected as the chairman of the managing committee of Piroli Fazel Ahmed Secondary School in Kalia upazila of the district.He was elected Chairman by the members of the School managing committee on January 19. Earlier, on January 13, a peaceful election was held for elected members of the school’s managing committee by the guardian members’ votes.
Kalia Upazila Education Office academic supervisor and presiding officer of Fazel Ahmed Secondary School Managing Committee’s election M.M Sharafat Hossain, said a total of 14 candidates contested in the election of the managing committee. Elected members are Md. Babul Hossain (186 votes), Emdaul Haque (186 votes), Sujal Hossain (185), Akbar Hossain Sheikh (154 votes) and Furi Begum (270 votes).The total number of voters were 540.
Managing Committee Member Md. Babul Hossain said, "We have spontaneously elected Palash Molla as Chairman of the School Managing Committee, who are grandson of famous Danbir's Fazel Ahmed Molla. The school was established at Piroli bazar area in the name of Palash Molla's grandfather.
The headmaster of the school Manimohan Biswas said that at present there are more than 600 students in the school. The school has been keeping the signature of success every year in passing rate and results in SSC examinations.
