Pakistani investors urged to invest in textile, jute mills in Bangladesh

Adviser for the Ministry of Textiles, Jute and Shipping Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain called upon Pakistani investors to come forward to invest in the state-owned textile and jute mills in Bangladesh. 

Advisor made the call during a view exchange with Pakistan High Commissioner Syed Ahmad Maruf, as the envoy paid a courtesy call on him at his Secretariat office.

In response, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Ahmad Maruf expressed interest in investing in the potential sectors in Bangladesh. 

He highly praised 'golden bag' made from by jute. 

The envoy invited Bangladesh in advance to participate in the Pakistan Textile Expo in the coming October.

The Secretary of Textile and Jute Ministry, Md. Abdur Rauf and other senior officials were present on the occasion. While addressing, Secretary emphasized on increasing commercial relations between the two countries and requested Pakistani businessmen to import versatile jute products from Bangladesh.

The ministry urged Pakistani businessmen to import more than 200 varieties of jute products at the JDPC exhibition center.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner Ahmad Maruf proposed to start a direct shipping system between Pakistan and Bangladesh and said that it will advance the socio-economic relations of the two countries. Bangladesh Shipping Corpora­tion and Pakistan Shipping Corporation can jointly work in this purpose. In response to this, the Adviser said that he will work with the relevant officials of the ministry directly on the issue of shipping. 

“Investment, communication and friendship should be increased to strengthen the relationship between the two countries”, he added.
