Pakistan lead Bangladesh in head-to-head encounter

Asian rivals Bangladesh and Pakistan will look to stop their losing streaks when they lock horns in match 31 of the ICC World Cup 2023 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday. 

In the 38 Pakistan and Bangladesh head to head meetings in ODIs, Pakistan has the clear advantage, having won 33 times against Bangladesh, who have won just five times in the encounters against their Asian rivals. In the last 5 meetings, however, Bangladesh have a 3-2 record against Pakistan. Among the 5 wins for Bangladesh, two have come when chasing and three times when batting first. Pakistan, on the other hand, has won 21 times when batting first and 12 times when chasing. 

Bangladesh faced Pakistan for the first time of John Player Gold Leaf Trophy at Tyronne Fernando Stadium, Moratuwa, Sri Lanka on 31st March, 1986. That time Bangladesh was minnows and the new comer in the world cricket. Bangladesh were bundled out only 94 runs from 35.3 over. Pakistan reached the target 98 from 32.1 over losing three wickets and won by seven wickets.

After this encounter, Pakistan won 25 outings in a row. Almost sixteen years passed and Bangladesh won their second victory over Pakistan at Sher-E-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur, Dhaka on 17th April, 2015. 

Shakib Al Hasan and Co managed a big total 329 for 6 from 50 over. Pakistan were all out 250. Bangladesh won another two proceedings at the same venue in 2015. 

Bangladesh clichéd the Asia Cup match against Pakistan by 37 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on 26th September, 2018. It was the fifth win over Pakistan. 

The two teams met last time in Asia Cup in 2023. Bangladesh lost to Pakistan by seven wickets at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore on 6th September. 

Tigers highest score against Pakistan were 329 for six and the lowest score was 87 runs at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka on June 2, 2000 in Asia Cup. Pakistan through a huge total 320 for three from 50 over.
