Pakistan HC meets JU VC to explore cooperation

Pakistan High Commissioner in Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, held a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University (JU), Professor Dr Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the VC’s office. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between universities in both countries.

During the meeting, the high commissioner expressed his interest in signing multiple memoranda of understanding (MoUs) for collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange between universities in Pakistan and Bangladesh. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts in these fields, which could benefit students and researchers from both countries.

The Vice Chancellor thanked the high commissioner for his proposal and highlighted the achievements of JU in education and research. He noted that JU is ranked among the top universities in Bangladesh, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings for 2024 and 2025. The VC also expressed his hope that this collaboration would strengthen academic ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.

Furthermore, the Pakistani envoy mentioned a planned visit by a student delegation from Bangladesh to Pakistan in early 2025. He also showed interest in organizing a seminar at JU on Pakistan’s education and research system. The Vice Chancellor assured his support for this initiative and said that the necessary steps would be taken to organize the seminar.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both parties expressing hope for a fruitful partnership in the future. This collaboration is expected to open new doors for students and researchers in both countries.
