Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change Md Shahab Uddin said the construction of Padma Bridge will increase the per capita income of people not only in 21 districts in the south but also in the whole of Bangladesh. The World Bank's allegations of corruption in the construction of the Padma Bridge have been proved false. The Prime Minister has built this bridge on one of the fast flowing rivers of the world using the power of the people. The Padma Bridge, rich in deep piling, will be large and earthquake resistant. The occasion of the national festival like the inauguration of Padma Bridge has never happened in the history of the country.
The Minister for Environment, Forests and Climate Change on Saturday at the Baralekha Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Moulvibazar under the program titled "Development Assistance for Special Areas" being implemented by the Prime Minister's Office. He was speaking as the chief guest at the distribution of grant checks.
The Environment Minister said many mega projects under construction in the capital, including Metrorail, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant and Karnafuli Tunnel, are proof of Bangladesh's capability. The whole world is amazed that we can no longer beg but can beg. The country is turning into the golden Bengal of Bangabandhu's dream. The scope and amount of social security programs including widow allowance, allowance for minorities, maternity allowance has been increased. The minister said the ongoing war in Covid 19 and Europe has led to a rise in commodity prices in the global market. He also warned traders against raising prices unjustly and unreasonably.
The meeting was chaired by Baralekha Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khandaker Mudachir Bin Ali and was attended by Baralekha Upazila Parishad Chairman Sohaib Ahmed, Mayor Abul Imam Md Kamran Chowdhury and former Upazila Chairman and Acting General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Rafiqul Islam Sundar among others.
