Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the much awaited Padma Bridge will be opened to traffic by next June.
He disclosed this information to reporters after a views exchange meeting with officials at Bridge Department in the capital on Tuesday.
Obaidul Quader said, “About 96 percent of the main work of the bridge has already been completed. And the overall progress of the project is 90.50 percent.”
Citing the progress of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tunnel under the Karnafuli River in Chattogram he said, “The progress of work on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under construction along the Karnafuli river is 80 percent. Work is being done with the aim of completing it by December this year.”
The minister said, “Out of the three phases of Dhaka Elevated Expressway, 78.50 percent work of the first phase from Airport to Banani has been completed. The progress of Banani-Maghbazar section is 31 percent.”
He said preparations have been completed to start work on Airport-Ashulia-EPZ Expressway and four-lane roads. The work of test piling is also completed.
Responding to a question from reporters on the verdict in the Sinha murder case, Obaidul Quader said, “It has been proved that the Sheikh Hasina’s government believes in the rule of law. The law is the same for everyone. The country’s judiciary is working independently.”
He said that those who have unreasonable doubts about the judiciary will get answers to many questions from this verdict.
