Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said Bangladesh became independent in 1971 under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. June 25 is the day of inauguration of Padma Bridge, another day of victory of the Bengali nation. People all over the country will celebrate on this day.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a program to distribute scholarships and bicycles among minority students at the Zila Parishad Auditorium in Niamatpur, Naogaon on Tuesday.
The food minister said the people of the country will rejoice on the day of inauguration of Padma Bridge in the same way that the people rejoiced after independence.
Sadhan Chandra Majumder said that Padma Bridge is a symbol of boundless courage of the Bengali nation after independence. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has proved that the Bengali nation cannot bow down to taxes. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has proved our capability by building the Padma Bridge with her own money. No conspiracy could stop the work of Padma Bridge.
The minister said that while there is peace in the country, there is a vicious circle to destabilize the country. Therefore, on the day of inauguration of Padma Bridge, he urged the leaders and workers to be careful so that no one could destabilize the country.
Later, the minister distributed bicycles among 50 minority students, scholarships among 350 primary and secondary students, goats among 15 poor fishermen and 225 kg fish feed among 48 fish farmers. Earlier, the minister inaugurated an X-ray machine at the Upazila Health Complex.
