A terrible fire has occurred in a coil factory in Gurdaspur. A large quantity of manufactured coils and coil making equipment were burnt. The fire incident took place in the Nayabazar area of Dharabarisha Union of Gurdaspur at around 11:30 on Sunday.
Two teams of Gurdaspur Fire Service brought the fire under control at Engineer Abdul Hamid's Daniel Agro Coil Factory after an hour of effort. Before that, all the goods and parts in the factory were burnt to ashes.
Gurdaspur Fire Service Station Officer Shahidul Islam said that after receiving information about the fire in the coil manufacturing factory, the members of the fire brigade started working to control the fire at around 12 noon. It took them about an hour to bring the fire under control. However, the extent of damage could not be immediately estimated.
Locals said that wood was used as fuel for making coils in the factory. The fire broke out due to the carelessness of workers while making coils in a wood fire on Sunday. According to the fire official, the fire may have started from an electrical short circuit. However, although raw materials and parts of the factory were burnt in the fire, no casualty occurred.
Engineer Abdul Hamid, the owner of Daniel Agro coil factory, said that the fire in his factory caused a loss of at least 20 lakh rupees, including raw materials and parts for making coils.
