Over Tk 69m deposited in labour welfare fund

Four Bangladeshi companies have deposited 69.3 million tk to the Labor Welfare Foundation Fund on Tuesday.  Telecommunication company Robi, Meghna Petroleum, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Nuvista Pharma deposited a percentage of their yearly dividends, officials said.

Representatives of these companies on Tuesday handed over cheques of Tk 69.34 million to the State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum Monnujan Sufian at the secretariat in the capital.

Chief HR Officer of Robi Axiata Limited, Imtiaz Khan handed over a cheque of 27,633,380 Tk, Meghna Petroleum Ltd General Manager Akhtar Hossain handed over a cheque of  21,614,137 Tk and Chie operating Officer Rabbu Reza of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd and Nuvista Pharma handed over a cheque of 19,551,826 Tk.

According to the Bangladesh Labor Law, there is a rule of depositing 10 percent of the annual dividend of a company to the Bangladesh Labor Welfare Foundation Fund under Labour and Employment Ministry. 

Till now, 217 domestic and foreign companies have deposited over tk 600 crore in this fund. This fund is used to help distressed workers and their family members across the country.
