OpenAI is reportedly planning to launch its next AI model, codenamed Orion, by December, according to ‘The Verge’.
Unlike previous releases, Orion will be rolled out gradually to trusted partners before a wider release through ChatGPT.
An OpenAI spokesperson told 'TechCrunch' that the report is inaccurate but did not provide further details.
Microsoft engineers are expected to access Orion as early as November, though the final name for the model is still uncertain.
The earlier models in the O1 series were codenamed “strawberry” for months before their release.
The stakes are high for OpenAI. The company recently raised $6.6 billion, reaching a valuation of $157 billion.
Investors are eager for OpenAI to continue producing advanced models that will solidify its position in the tech industry.
