According to the law, online versions of newspapers and news portals cannot broadcast talk shows and news bulletins, said Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hassan Mahmud.

During a discussion with reporters at the Secretariat on Sunday afternoon, the Minister, quoting the policy gazette, said, “We have looked into the law, as per the provisions of sub-sections two, four and six of the second section of the law online media policy, they cannot do such propaganda.”

"In the digital age, giving video clips related to news is not a violation of the rules, but it does not approve of the policy of broadcasting talk shows or news bulletins at all," he said.

"We registered the online versions of the newspaper without any investigation on the condition that the news published in the newspaper would be published online, which should not be different," he said.

If they give a written objection in this regard, we will inform the concerned by mentioning the sections and sub-sections of the law, said the minister.

Hasan Mahmud, joint general secretary of the Awami League, said in response to a question about the negative comments made by BNP and some other organizations about the proposed budget. For the last 13 and a half years, whenever the budget has been presented, it has been seen that some well-known faces, well-known organizations have always made negative comments about this budget.

"The budget we inherited was less than Tk 80,000 crore," he said. Now that budget has increased eight to nine times and stands at Tk 6 lakh 78 thousand 64 crore. Per capita income has increased almost five times from 800 to 2624 in 13 and a half years.

The poverty rate has come down from 41 to 20 percent and the extreme poverty rate has come down to about 10 percent. That is the reality. But every time after the budget, certain individuals, institutions, organizations and the BNP and their allies never praised. So how did the country go so far in these 13 and a half years - the minister asked.

This budget is poor-friendly budget. Hasan said that about 90 thousand crore rupees has been subsidized, increase in allocation for social security, subsidy in agriculture, electricity, gas, all these are for our common people.

Not only that, due to the Corona epidemic and the war in Europe, the inflation in those countries is less than that in Bangladesh, which is easily seen on Google, yet they speak to confuse the people. The CPD has not been able to praise the budget even once in the last 13 years and the BNP has written a statement the day before, the statement is not read properly. But the World Bank, the IFM, the UN praise us. Because Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government budgets for the common man and that is why the country has moved forward, poverty has been reduced.

Regarding BNP's demand to take Begum Zia abroad, Minister Hasan said, "When the BNP leaders used to gather every morning, afternoon and evening, it was doubtful whether she would survive if Khaleda Zia was not taken abroad. Even then Begum Zia has recovered from the treatment in the country, this time too. The demand to take this abroad is political. They present this demand out of political malice, they have tried this before. Begum Zia should not be made their scapegoat in this way.”

After the exchange of views, Information Minister Hasan Mahmud unveiled the cover of the 6th edition of the book 'Sheikh Hasina and Bangladesh to turn around' compiled by development researcher Shamim Ahmed. Authors and senior journalists Kanchan Kumar Dey and Motahar Hossain took part in the unveiling.
